Create a quiz

Turn any topic into a live quiz in seconds.

Describe what you want to quiz. Ponko drafts the questions, you review them, then everyone joins from their phone with a code or QR.

  • Free to host
  • No app to install
  • Up to 190 players

See it in action

From one sentence to a room playing

Twenty seconds, start to finish: a topic typed in, a question drafted, players joining with a code, answers from phones, then the podium.

Demo video, 21 seconds, no sound. A host types “A 10-question quiz about the solar system”. Ponko shows the question “Which planet is known as the Red Planet?” with four coloured answers. Players join with the game code K7M4PQ. A player taps Mars on their phone and sees “Correct!”. A podium shows the top three. It ends with the Ponko logo and: free to host, no app to install, up to 190 players.

How it works

From idea to live quiz in three steps

  1. Give Ponko a topic, a question count and a difficulty — something like "the French Revolution, for a Year 9 class".

  2. Ponko writes the first draft. You stay in control: edit any question, change the answers, add an image, or drop the ones you don't want.

  3. Put the game on a big screen. Players join from their own phone with a game code or QR code — nothing to download.

Features

Everything you need to run the game

Create

  • Bring a quiz you already have

Paste rows from a Kahoot-format spreadsheet or a Quizlet export — the format is detected automatically.

  • Write your own

Build a quiz question by question, no AI required.

  • Swap one question

Don't like one of the AI's questions? Regenerate just that one; the rest of the draft stays as it is.

Play

  • Five question types

Multiple choice, true/false, polls, typed answers and ranking.

  • Speed and streaks

Fast right answers score more, and a run of them earns a bonus.

  • Shuffled answers

Each player can see the options in a different order, so a neighbour's screen helps far less.

Customize

  • Your logo

Set it once and every game you host shows it.

  • Six languages

Use the site in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German or Arabic — each player picks their own.

  • Public gallery

Share a quiz by link, or list it for others to play.

Who it's for

Made for a room full of people

Live, with everyone answering at once — or at each person's own pace, before a deadline. On the devices they already have.

  • Classrooms

A quick live check at the end of a lesson, with the whole class answering at once.

    • Students join with a code — no accounts, no emails
    • See the hardest question and export results to a spreadsheet
    • Or send it as homework, with a deadline and a pass mark
  • Teams

Onboarding, workshops and team days — in the same room or on a video call.

    • Players pick their team as they join and score together
    • On a call, share your screen and everyone joins from anywhere
    • Or send a self-paced quiz for onboarding, with results by department
  • Events

Quiz nights, parties and big gatherings, with the whole crowd playing along.

    • Up to 190 guests join by code or QR, with nothing to install
    • Latecomers can still join after the game has started
    • End on a podium you can save and share as an image

Self-paced quizzes

Can't all play at once? Send it as a link.

Each person plays alone, on their own phone or computer, whenever suits them before your deadline — homework for a class, a check after a training, onboarding, or a challenge between friends.

  • A link and a deadline

Share it by WhatsApp, QR code, Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams, with a deadline up to 60 days away.

  • One try each

Nobody can replay until they know the answers, so the score means something.

  • Answers stay hidden

By default the right answers appear after the deadline, so they can't be passed around.

  • A pass mark, if you want one

Players see Passed or Not yet. You see who passed.

  • Class, team or department

Ask for it as they join, then compare groups in your results.

  • Results in one place

Who finished, every score and a spreadsheet export — plus a final ranking for everyone, if you choose.

FAQ

Questions people ask

  • Yes. Hosting, playing, and AI quiz generation are all free, and there are no paid plans. Ponko is supported by ads on its public pages — never inside a game.

  • No — anyone can join a game with just a code. Hosting a live game with an existing quiz doesn't require an account either, but generating a quiz with AI, saving it, sharing it publicly and sending a self-paced quiz do.

  • Ponko runs in the browser, so anything with a current browser works. The usual setup is the host on a laptop connected to a screen or projector, and players on their own phones — but you can host from a phone or tablet too.

  • Yes — always read them before you play. AI drafts are a starting point and can get facts wrong or word things awkwardly, which is why every question stays editable and nothing is published automatically.

  • Players give a display name and pick an avatar — that's it, no email and no sign-up. In a self-paced quiz the host can also ask for their class, team or department. That name, their answers and their score are stored with the game so the host can see the results.

  • No. Data is shared only with the providers needed to run the service, and never sold. Ponko does show ads on its public pages: Google asks for your consent in its own dialog before anything is stored for advertising, and your account, quiz and game content is never given to advertisers.
